The Power of Advertising: Psychology Meets Design (Q2)
In this dynamic virtual enrichment course, middle school students will dive into the fascinating world of advertising and consumer psychology. Students will analyze real-world ad campaigns to understand the persuasive techniques that influence buying decisions, from color psychology to emotional appeals. They'll explore why catchy slogans are the cornerstone of successful advertising—creating memorable brand identities that stick in consumers' minds long after they've seen an ad. Through hands-on projects using Canva, students will design their own marketing materials including posters, social media ads, and product packaging for real or imaginary products. The course emphasizes critical thinking skills, helping students become savvy consumers who can recognize advertising strategies in their daily lives. By blending creativity with psychology, students will develop both digital design skills and a deeper understanding of how media shapes our choices and culture.
